La Royal Opera House Muscat è lieta di presentare la Stagione 2025–2026, una radiosa espressione del suo progetto culturale, che resta l’essenza e la missione fondante dell’istituzione.
Questa stagione non è soltanto una celebrazione delle arti performative, ma anche un impegno vivo verso la creatività, il dialogo e il potere della cultura di ispirare e unire.
Con oltre cinquanta eventi straordinari — dall’opera alla musica araba, dai concerti sinfonici al balletto, dal jazz agli spettacoli per famiglie fino alle più preziose tradizioni del mondo — il programma si propone come un crocevia vibrante, dove Oriente e Occidente dialogano in armonia e il patrimonio culturale si intreccia con l’innovazione.
Dal mese di ottobre 2025 a maggio 2026, il pubblico di tutte le generazioni sarà invitato a intraprendere un viaggio attraverso suoni, bellezza ed emozioni — riaffermando la cultura come tesoro condiviso e come autentico cuore pulsante della missione della Royal Opera House Muscat.
SINDBAD: THE OMANI SAILOR – UNA PRIMA MONDIALE STORICA RADICATA NEL PATRIMONIO OMANITA
Ad inaugurare la stagione sarà l’opera Sindbad: The Omani Sailor, una prima mondiale che porta al centro la cultura dell’Oman e segna una pietra miliare nell’opera lirica araba.
Questa produzione della Royal Opera House Muscat — in collaborazione con MÜPA Budapest — vede la musica del compositore egiziano Hisham Gabr, il libretto di Nader Salah El Din e la regia di Csaba Káel.
Progetto a lungo atteso, finalmente realizzato, Sindbad: The Omani Sailor vanta la più alta partecipazione di artisti arabi — dal compositore al librettista fino agli interpreti — rendendola una produzione autenticamente araba. Con scenografie e costumi ispirati all’Oman, l’opera porta il patrimonio culturale del Sultanato sul palcoscenico internazionale, fondendo mito, musica e identità in un debutto storico. (3 e 5 ottobre)
OPERE ICONICHE: DAL GRANDE DRAMMA ALLA COMMEDIA BRILLANTE
Gli amanti dell’opera potranno assistere a produzioni potenti di capolavori immortali.
Tosca di Giacomo Puccini, messa in scena dal Teatro Accademico Statale dell’Opera e del Balletto dell’Azerbaigian, con la regia di Davide Livermore e diretta dal brillante Fabio Mastrangelo, porterà sul palco tutta la passione travolgente e la tensione drammatica della partitura (29 e 31 gennaio).
Più avanti nella stagione, Don Pasquale di Gaetano Donizetti offrirà un delizioso contrappunto: un’opera comica effervescente animata dall’Orchestra Oviedo Filarmonía e dal Coro 1685 del Conservatorio “Giuseppe Verdi” di Ravenna, sotto la regia di Andrea de Rosa e la direzione di Francesco Lanzillotta (9 e 11 aprile).
MUSICA ARABA: PATRIMONIO, LEGGENDE E NUOVE VOCI
Il programma di musica araba di quest’anno rende omaggio alla tradizione e alla sua continua evoluzione.
La stagione si apre con la celebrazione Omani Women’s Day con le esibizioni di Diana Haddad, delle Ayoub Sisters e dell’Ensemble femminile della Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra (17 ottobre), seguite dal concerto solista di Diana Haddad la sera successiva (18 ottobre).
In omaggio ai talenti nazionali, The Omani Night vedrà protagonista la musica di Sayyid Khalid Al Busaidi, in un evento che riflette la ricchezza del patrimonio musicale del Sultanato (12 dicembre).
Grandi nomi della musica del Golfo saliranno sul palco, con Rabeh Saqer protagonista di un concerto all’aperto sotto le stelle (13 novembre).
In primavera, Khalid El Sheikh e Ahmed El Jumairy si uniranno per Una notte con i maestri della musica del Golfo, una collaborazione unica che cattura l’essenza poetica del Khaleej (23 aprile).
La stagione di musica araba si concluderà con l’esibizione di Abeer Nehme, la cui straordinaria estensione vocale e profonda espressività promettono un’esperienza indimenticabile (14 e 15 maggio).
MOMENTI DI RIFLESSIONE SPIRITUALE
Durante il Ramadan, la ROHM propone un programma sereno di Sufi e Inshaad Evenings, portando in primo piano la poesia sacra e la musica spirituale del mondo arabo.
Queste serate contemplative offrono momenti di calma e connessione (26 febbraio, 5 e 9 marzo).
ECCELLENZA ORCHESTRALE E DIALOGHI INTERCULTURALI
La stagione mette in luce anche il potere del dialogo musicale tra tradizioni e geografie.
Un esempio significativo arriva all’inizio con l’Orchestra Sinfonica della Radio Ungherese, diretta da Domonkos Héja, che si esibirà insieme all’Ensemble di Musica Tradizionale Omanita per esplorare le intersezioni tra musica ungherese e araba (4 ottobre).
Per la prima volta alla ROHM, l’Orchestra Accademica Nazionale di Strumenti Popolari Ossipov, diretta da Vladimir Andropov, darà vita ai suoni del folklore russo in un concerto ricco di colore ed energia (17 novembre).
Uno sfavillante gala di Capodanno vedrà la Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, sotto la direzione di Sergey Smbatyan, esibirsi insieme al pianista Behzod Abduraimov e alla violinista Elli Choi, in una serata di brillantezza tecnica ed eleganza artistica (31 dicembre).
In Beethoven/Liszt: Nona Sinfonia, i pianisti Hélène Mercier e Louis Lortie presenteranno la rara versione per due pianoforti, accompagnati dal Coro del Teatro Accademico Statale dell’Opera e del Balletto dell’Azerbaigian, offrendo una prospettiva intima e originale su un classico monumentale (30 gennaio).
Aggiungendo un tocco cinematografico, The Lion King in Concert della Disney sarà proiettato con l’accompagnamento orchestrale dell’Orchestra Sinfonica di Stato Armena, offrendo un viaggio immersivo nella savana (13 e 14 febbraio).
Tra gli altri momenti orchestrali si segnalano Castanets’ Duel, brillante esibizione virtuosistica di Raul Amaya e Gabriela Castillo con l’Orchestra Oviedo Filarmonía (10 aprile), e un maestoso Pipe Organ Concert con la Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra accompagnata per la prima volta dal Coro dei Bambini della ROHM (30 aprile).
BALLETTO, FLAMENCO E L’ARTE DEL MOVIMENTO
La danza torna sul palcoscenico della ROHM in tutto il suo splendore.
La Compagnia e l’Orchestra del Balletto “Astana Opera” presenteranno Coppélia di Charles Nuitter e Léo Delibes, con la coreografia elegante e ironica di Roland Petit: un classico intramontabile, ricco di grazia e raffinatezza (4 e 5 dicembre).
A maggio, il Ballet Nacional de España porterà in scena Estampas Flamencas, un appassionato tributo alla complessità ritmica e alla profondità emotiva del flamenco (7 e 8 maggio).
JAZZ, FOLK E SUONI DAL MONDO
Il Janoska Ensemble, famiglia di straordinari artisti, si esibirà in arrangiamenti unici di musica classica insieme alla Vienna Chamber Orchestra, in due serate il 30 e 31 ottobre.
Dal jazz raffinato ai festival folk all’aperto, la stagione riunisce mondi musicali diversi.
Gli appassionati di jazz potranno godere dei concerti della stella emergente Emmaline, con il suo Ensemble, insieme alla partecipazione di Anthony Strong: un mix sofisticato di standard, soul e swing (27 e 28 novembre).
L’amatissimo Military Music Festival rimane un appuntamento fisso del calendario della stagione, quest’anno con bande ospiti affiancate dalle bande militari e di polizia omanite, in uno straordinario spettacolo di musica, parate e costumi (6, 7 e 8 novembre).
A seguire, il Folk Music Festival tornerà con artisti provenienti da Kazakistan, Messico e Ungheria, che condivideranno il palco con musicisti omaniti in una vibrante celebrazione di ritmo e identità culturale (8 e 9 gennaio).
MAGIA PER LE FAMIGLIE E TEATRO PER TUTTE LE ETÀ
La compagnia Lumen Créations porterà in scena Symphony of Lights, spettacolo per famiglie che combina acrobazie e giochi di luce in un evento mozzafiato che illuminerà la stagione natalizia (18 e 19 dicembre).
Ad incantare i più piccoli e i giovani nel cuore, la ROHM presenta una serie di produzioni familiari.
Cinderella on Ice conquisterà con coreografie eleganti, costumi scintillanti e una narrazione incantata su pattini (1, 2 e 3 gennaio).
A febbraio arriverà The Underwater Bubble Show, una produzione fantastica fatta di luce, illusioni e meraviglia (6 e 7 febbraio).
UNA STAGIONE OLTRE IL PALCOSCENICO
Oltre al ricco calendario di spettacoli, la Stagione 2025–2026 riafferma il ruolo della ROHM come centro di apprendimento, accessibilità e dialogo culturale.
Dalle masterclass guidate dagli artisti alle giornate “Open House” per famiglie, dai programmi educativi agli spettacoli con interpretazione nella lingua dei segni, la stagione è progettata per coinvolgere e includere tutti.
Iniziative come gli spettacoli per le scuole e il programma “Open Doors” garantiscono che musica e cultura rimangano accessibili a tutti.
La stagione propone inoltre una mostra speciale: Rhythm of Life – Ricchezza e diversità nelle arti omanite, ospitata alla Royal Opera House of Musical Arts. The Royal Opera House Muscat is delighted to unveil its 2025–2026 Season, a radiant expression of its cultural project, which remains the essential scope and guiding purpose of the institution. This season is not only a celebration of performance, but also a living commitment to creativity, dialogue, and the power of culture to inspire and unite.
With more than fifty exceptional events — spanning opera, Arab music, orchestral concerts, ballet, jazz, family productions, and treasured global traditions — the program creates a vibrant meeting point of worlds, where East and West engage in harmony, and heritage flourishes alongside innovation.
Running from October 2025 to May 2026, the season invites audiences of all generations to embark on a journey of sound, beauty, and emotion — reaffirming culture as a shared treasure and the very heartbeat of the Royal Opera House Muscat’s mission.
SINDBAD: THE OMANI SAILOR – A LANDMARK WORLD PREMIERE GRAND OPERA ROOTED IN OMANI HERITAGE
Opening the season is Sindbad: The Omani Sailor, a world premiere opera that places Omani culture centre stage and marks a landmark in Arab grand opera.
This Royal Opera House Muscat production – in collaboration with MÜPA Budapest – features music by Egyptian composer Hisham Gabr, libretto by Nader Salah El Din and direction by Csaba Káel.
Sindbad: The Omani Sailor is a long-envisioned project now realized, it showcases the highest participation of Arab artists—from composer and librettist to performers—making it a truly authentic Arab production. With sets and costumes inspired by Oman, the opera places Omani heritage on the international stage, blending myth, music, and cultural identity in a historic debut. (3rd & 5th October).
ICONIC OPERAS: FROM GRAND DRAMA TO COMEDIC GEM
Opera lovers can look forward to powerful productions of enduring masterpieces. Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca, performed by the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre directed by Davide Livermore, and conducted by the brilliant Fabio Mastrangelo, brings sweeping passion and high-stakes drama to the stage (29th & 31st January).
Later in the season, Giuseppe Donizetti’s beloved Don Pasquale offers a refreshing counterpoint, an effervescent comic opera brought to life with flair by the Oviedo Filarmonía Orchestra and the Choir 1685 of the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory of Ravenna, under the acclaimed director Andrea de Rosa and conducted by the talented baton of Francesco Lanzillotta (9th & 11th April).
ARAB MUSIC: HERITAGE, LEGENDS, AND NEW VOICES
This year’s Arab music programme is a tribute to both tradition and evolution. The season begins with a celebration of Omani Women’s Day featuring performances by Diana Haddad, the Ayoub Sisters, and the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra Ladies’ Ensemble (17th October), followed by Diana Haddad’s solo concert the next evening (18th October).
In a tribute to national talent, Omani Night showcases the music of Sayyid Khalid Al Busaidi in an evening that reflects the depth of the Sultanate’s musical legacy (12th December). Major names in Gulf music also take the stage, as Rabeh Saqer performs under the stars in an open-air concert (13th November).
Later in the spring, Khalid El Sheikh and Ahmed El Jumairy come together for A Night with the Masters of Gulf Music, a unique collaboration that captures the poetic essence of the Khaleej (23rd April). The season’s Arab music offering concludes with a performance by Abeer Nehme, whose remarkable range and deep expressiveness promise an unforgettable experience (14th & 15th May).
MOMENTS OF REFLECTION AND SPIRITUAL RESONANCE
During Ramadan, ROHM offers a serene programme of Evenings of Sufi and Inshaad, bringing sacred poetry and spiritual music from across the Arab world to the fore. These contemplative evenings offer moments of calm and connection (26th February, 5th & 9th March).
ORCHESTRAL EXCELLENCE AND CROSS-CULTURAL DIALOGUES
This season also highlights the power of musical dialogue between traditions and geographies. A striking example comes early, when the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Domonkos Héja joins forces with the Oman Traditional Music Ensemble to explore intersections between Hungarian and Arab music (4th October).
Making its ROHM debut, the Ossipov National Academic Folk Instrument Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Andropov brings the sounds of Russian folklore to life in a concert full of colour and energy (17th November).
A dazzling New Year’s Eve gala sees the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Sergey Smbatyan, perform alongside pianist Behzod Abduraimov and violinist Elli Choi in an evening of technical brilliance and artistic elegance (31st December).

Adding cinematic wonder to the mix, Disney’s The Lion King Live in Concert will be screened with orchestral accompaniment by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, an immersive journey into the savannah and a feast for the senses (13th & 14th February).
Additional orchestral highlights include Castanets’ Duel, a playful and virtuosic showcase by Raul Amaya and Gabriela Castillo with The Oviedo Filarmonía (10th April) and a majestic Pipe Organ Concert with the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra accompanied for the first time by ROHM’s Children’s Choir (30th April).
BALLET, FLAMENCO, AND THE ART OF MOVEMENT
Dance returns to the ROHM stage in full splendour. The ‘Astana Opera’ Ballet Company and Orchestra presents Charles Nuitter and Léo Delibes’ Coppélia with Roland Petit’s elegant and humorous choreography; an enduring classic filled with charm and artistry (4th & 5th December).
In May, The Ballet Nacional de España brings Estampas Flamencas, a passionate tribute to flamenco’s rhythmic complexity and emotional depth (7th & 8th May).
JAZZ, FOLK, AND GLOBAL SOUNDS

From smoky jazz to open-air folk festivals, the season brings together diverse musical worlds. Jazz aficionados can enjoy performances by rising star Emmaline with the participation of Anthony Strong, who together deliver a sophisticated mix of standards, soul, and swing (27th & 28th November).
The ever-popular Military Music Festival remains a stalwart date in the calendar of the season, this year presenting visiting bands alongside Omani military and police bands in what will certainly be an outstanding display of music, marching and brilliant costumes (6th, 7th & 8th November). Following this, the Folk Music Festival returns with artists from Kazakhstan, Mexico, and Hungary sharing the stage with Omani musicians in a vibrant celebration of cultural rhythm and identity (8th & 9th January).
FAMILY MAGIC AND THEATRE FOR ALL AGES
“Lumen Créations” brings Symphony of Lights to the stage, to join a staggering line up of family friendly shows, a dazzling combination of acrobatics and a dramatic light show that will put the opera house in the spotlight in the holiday season (18th & 19th December).
Delighting younger audiences and the young at heart, ROHM presents a series of enchanting family productions. Cinderella on Ice dazzles with graceful choreography, glittering costumes, and storytelling on skates (1st, 2nd & 3rd January).
February brings The Underwater Bubble Show, a fantastic production full of light, illusion, and joyful spectacle (6th & 7th February).
A SEASON BEYOND THE STAGE
Beyond its rich performance calendar, the 2025–2026 season reaffirms ROHM’s role as a centre for learning, accessibility, and cultural dialogue. From artist-led masterclasses to family-friendly “Open House” days, and from educational outreach programmes to performances with sign language integration, the season is designed to engage and include. Initiatives like school performances and the “Open Doors” programme ensure that music and culture remain accessible to all.
This season also features a special exhibition: Rhythm of Life – Richness and Diversity in Omani Arts, a music exhibition presented at the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts. Through rare instruments, immersive displays, and musical stories from across the Sultanate, the exhibition celebrates Oman’s vibrant heritage and the sounds that connect its people.
Season 2025–2026 is more than a season, it’s a celebration of connection: between people, between cultures, and between stories told through music.
