RIAT 2023: l’Aeronautica Militare Italiana celebra il centenario anche all’Airshow britannico.
Al Royal International Air Tattoo l’Aeronautica Militare porta numerosi assetti, incluso l’HH-139 del 15° Stormo che per la prima volta effettuerà una dimostrazione di missione ricerca e salvataggio fuori dai confini nazionali.
L’Aeronautica Militare Italiana partecipa all’edizione di quest’anno del Royal International Air Tattoo (Fairford, Regno Unito, 14-16 luglio 2023) con una massiccia presenza di velivoli ed elicotteri, nell’ambito delle celebrazioni per i Cento anni dalla sua istituzione come forza armata autonoma, il 28 marzo 1923.
Il Capo di Stato Maggiore dell’Aeronautica Gen. S. A. Luca Goretti ha dichiarato: «L’importante partecipazione dell’Aeronautica Militare al Royal International Air Tattoo 2023 è sia l’occasione per celebrare i suoi primi 100 anni di storia – anche nell’ambito di una delle più prestigiose manifestazioni aeree al mondo – sia una grande opportunità per sottolineare la proficua collaborazione tra Italia e Regno Unito: due grandi Paesi, tra i pochi al mondo, dotati di Forze Aeree ultracentenarie e tra le più avanzate nel panorama internazionale».
L’area tematica denominata ITAF100, allestita dall’organizzazione di RIAT, ospita alcuni degli assetti chiave dell’Aeronautica Militare, tra cui: G-550 CAEW, P-72, C-130J, U-208, Tornado, AMX e C-27J. La presenza del KC-767A – che fa della Forza Armata una delle poche al mondo con capacità di rifornimento in volo – e dell’HH-101 – elicottero in grado di essere rifornito in volo e quindi di essere maggiormente proiettabile ed efficace nei contesti operativi – rientrano anche nell’ambito delle celebrazioni che RIAT dedica ai 100 anni dal primo rifornimento aria-aria. ITAF100 comprende anche aerei che hanno fatto parte della storia dell’Aeronautica Militare, messi a disposizione da privati. Tra questi il De Havilland Vampire FB.52 e il FIAT G.46.
Tra le esibizioni in volo, il 15° Stormo eseguirà, per la prima volta fuori dai confini nazionali, la demo di una missione di ricerca e soccorso (SAR – Search And Rescue) con un elicottero HH-139. È invece un ritorno quello del Reparto Sperimentale di Volo, con i display di Eurofighter Typhoon e T-346A. Proprio il team Reparto Sperimentale di Volo l’anno scorso è stato premiato dall’organizzazione di RIAT con il “The Sir Douglas Bader Trophy” per la migliore prestazione solista del C-27J.
L’Aeronautica Militare e la Royal Air Force britannica hanno una collaborazione di lungo corso che è stata recentemente rafforzata con la firma, lo scorso maggio, di un accordo che prevede l’addestramento (Fase IV) di allievi piloti (Student Pilot) e piloti istruttori (Instructor Pilot) presso l’International Flight Training School (IFTS) di Decimomannu (CA). L’IFTS è riconosciuta a livello internazionale come centro di eccellenza e punto di riferimento nell’addestramento avanzato dei piloti destinati a caccia di 4a e 5a generazione e si avvale dell’esperienza e della tradizione dell’Aeronautica Militare e delle capacità tecnologiche italiane, rappresentate dal syllabus del sistema di addestramento integrato basato sul T-346A.
THE ITALIAN AIR FORCE CELEBRATES ITS CENTENARY AT RIAT 2023
At the Royal International Air Tattoo a massive presence of Italian Air Force aircraft including for the first time the HH-139 from the 15th Wing carrying out a rescue mission demo.
The Italian Air Force is taking part in this year’s Royal International Air Tattoo (Fairford, UK, 14-16 July) with a massive presence of different assets as part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of its establishment as an autonomous armed force, in 1923.
The Italian Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. Luca Goretti said: “The significant participation of the Italian Air Force at the Royal International Air Tattoo 2023 is a chance to celebrate our first 100 years of history at one of the most prestigious air shows in the world, and it is also a great opportunity to underline again the successful collaboration between Italy and the United Kingdom: two countries, among the few in the world with Air Forces that are 100 or more years old and which are among the most advanced on the international scene.”
The themed area called “ITAF100”, set up by the RIAT organisation, hosts some of the Air Force’s key assets, including the G-550 CAEW, the P-72A, the C-130J, the U-208, the Tornado, the AMX and the C-27J. The presence of the KC-767A – which makes the Italian Air Force one of the few in the world with in-flight refuelling capability – and the HH-101 – a helicopter capable of being refuelled in flight and thus more projectable and effective in operational contexts – fit of RIAT’s celebrations to mark 100 years since the first air-to-air refuelling. ITAF100 also includes aircraft that are part of Italian Air Force history and which have been loaned by private individuals. These include the De Havilland Vampire FB.52 and the FIAT G.46.
Among the flight displays, the 15th Wing will perform, for the first time outside Italy, a demonstration of a Search And Rescue (SAR) mission with an HH-139 helicopter. On the other hand, the Experimental and Test Flight Department (Reparto Sperimentale Volo – RSV) will return with displays of the Eurofighter Typhoon and the T-346A. In 2022, the RIAT organisation awarded the C-27J team from RSV with “The Sir Douglas Bader Trophy” for the best solo-performance.
The Italian Air Force and the Royal Air Force have a long-standing collaboration that was recently strengthened with the signing last May of an agreement that provides the training (Phase IV) of student pilots and instructor pilots at the International Flight Training School (IFTS) in Decimomannu (Sardinia). The IFTS is internationally recognised as a centre of excellence and a reference point for the advanced training of pilots for 4th and 5th generation fighters, and draws on the experience and tradition of the Italian Air Force and Italian technological capabilities, represented by the syllabus of the integrated training system based on the T-346A.
